HOW IT WORKS

How to Use Our Lab Services: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to New Orleans Film Lab! We’re excited to help you bring your film to life through our streamlined and easy-to-use process. Below, we’ll walk you through every step, from placing your order to receiving your beautifully processed film and scans.

Step 1: Make Your Purchase

Start by visiting our online store to select the services you need. Whether you're developing C-41, E-6, or ECN-2 film, scanning your negatives, or choosing specific sleeving options, you can customize your order to match your preferences.

Our pricing includes everything—return shipping, archival-quality handling of your film, green chemistry disposal, and even water distillation for optimal development results.

Step 2: Send Us Your Film

After completing your purchase, it’s time to mail your film to us. Be sure to securely package your film to protect it during transit. To help us process your order accurately and quickly, please include the following in your package:

  • Details about your film type (C-41, E-6, ECN-2, etc.) and any notes about potential issues (e.g., expired film or camera malfunctions).

  • A copy of your receipt for reference.

  • Your return address, so we can ship your processed film and any additional items back to you.

Send your package to:

Step 3: Film Check-In

Once your package arrives, we’ll carefully check it into our system. You’ll receive a confirmation email letting you know your film is safely in our hands. We treat every roll of film with the utmost care and attention, ensuring it is ready for the next steps.

Step 4: Processing and Optional Scanning

Your film will then be processed using our carefully calibrated equipment and archival-grade techniques. For customers who have added scanning to their order, we’ll digitize your images with professional-quality results. Dust removal is part of every scan, ensuring clean and vibrant images.

Step 5: Sleeving Options

Once developed, your negatives will be sleeved in archival PrintFile sleeves. You can choose to have your film sleeved either uncut (perfect for archiving) or cut into strips for easy handling.

Step 6: Receiving Your Film and Scans

You have two options for receiving your scans:

  1. Digital Download: Access your scans conveniently through our online system once they’re ready.

  2. Flash Drive: For a small additional fee, we’ll include a flash drive with your scans when we ship your negatives.

For your physical film, we offer secure shipping right back to your door. Our shipping process is included in the price of your order—no surprises or hidden fees.
